Make this popular, restaurant-style Marry Me Chicken at home. This easy weeknight chicken recipe features tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich, sun-dried tomato and Parmesan cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken breasts for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and heavy cream. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  7. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Taste the sauce and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  8. Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit).
  10. Remove from the oven. Garnish with fresh chopped basil before serving. Serve this chicken with pasta or mashed potatoes to soak up the sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let the cream simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes before adding the chicken back in.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed asparagus or crusty bread.
