Make this easy homemade slushie for a refreshing summer drink. This recipe delivers the best frozen strawberry lemonade without needing an ice cream base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and frozen
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 45 lemons)
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (optional, for thicker slush)

Instructions

  1. Combine the frozen strawberries, fresh lemon juice, cold water, and sugar in a high-powered blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and has a thick, slushy consistency. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. If the mixture is too thick, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired texture. If it is too thin, add the optional ice cubes and blend again briefly.
  4. Taste the mixture and add more sugar if you prefer it sweeter.
  5. Pour immediately into chilled glasses. Serve this quick frozen summer cooler right away for the best texture.

Notes

  • For a make ahead frozen drink, you can freeze the blended mixture in an airtight container for up to one month. Thaw slightly before serving.
  • To make this a cocktail alternative frozen drink, add 1.5 ounces of white rum or vodka per serving before the final blend.
  • If you do not have fresh strawberries, you can substitute with 1.5 cups of frozen strawberry puree.
