Make crispy, flavorful shrimp quickly in your air fryer with this simple garlic Parmesan coating. This easy air fryer shrimp recipe is perfect for a fast weeknight dinner or a delicious appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry using paper towels. This step helps the coating stick and makes the shrimp crispy.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the dry shrimp with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry for 6 minutes.
  6. While the shrimp cooks, prepare the topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. After 6 minutes, carefully open the air fryer. Brush or drizzle the butter-garlic-Parmesan mixture evenly over the shrimp.
  8. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 2 to 4 minutes, or until the shrimp is pink and cooked through and the Parmesan coating is golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning the cheese.
  9. Remove the shrimp from the air fryer. Toss with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For the crispiest coating, ensure your shrimp are very dry before seasoning.
  • If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the initial seasoning mix.
  • Serve this shrimp over pasta, rice, or simply with lemon wedges for a low carb air fryer shrimp option.
