Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lb chuck roast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1012 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chuck roast dry with paper towels. Season all sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Place the seasoned roast in your slow cooker.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, olive oil, and minced garlic. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  4. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is very tender and shreds easily.
  6. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred or slice it.
  7. If you prefer a thicker sauce, whisk together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Pour this mixture into the slow cooker with the cooking liquid. Stir and cook on high for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  8. Serve the beef and garlic butter sauce over mashed potatoes or rice.
