- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 hamburger buns
- Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns.
