Make classic sloppy joes easily for a quick weeknight dinner or game day.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns.

Notes

  • You can make the sloppy joe mixture ahead of time and reheat it.
  • This recipe is great for freezer meals. Freeze the cooked mixture in portions and thaw before reheating.
