Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • For the Topping:
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the donuts are baking, melt the ½ cup of butter in a small bowl. In another small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a minute before transferring them to a wire rack.
  9. Dip each warm donut into the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh.
  • You can customize the topping by adding nutmeg or other spices to the cinnamon sugar.
  • For a fun brunch board, serve with fresh fruit, yogurt, and a drizzle of maple syrup.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake these in mini muffin tins, adjusting the baking time as needed.
