Make these soft, creamy orange cream cheese mints. They have a bright citrus flavor and melt in your mouth. This is a simple, no-bake recipe perfect for holidays or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted, plus more for coating
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest, finely grated
  • 12 drops orange food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the orange extract, orange zest, and optional food coloring to the cream cheese. Mix until the color and flavor are evenly distributed.
  3. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until a stiff dough forms. You may not need all the sugar; stop when the dough is firm enough to handle.
  4. Place the dough on a sheet of plastic wrap, wrap it tightly, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This makes the dough easier to shape.
  5. Pour about 1 cup of powdered sugar onto a plate or shallow dish for coating.
  6. Take small amounts of the chilled dough and roll them into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You can also press the dough into small candy molds if you have them.
  7. Roll each ball lightly in the reserved powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the finished orange cream cheese mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Chill the mints for another 15 minutes before serving or storing. These melt in your mouth candy treats are best served cool.

Notes

  • For the brightest orange flavor, use fresh orange zest instead of relying only on extract.
  • If your dough seems too soft after mixing, add a tablespoon more powdered sugar at a time until it firms up.
  • Store these no bake orange mints in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • You can shape these citrus cream cheese balls into small logs or use a small cookie scoop for uniform size.
