You can create this flavorful, restaurant-style olive oil bread dip in just five minutes. It is the perfect, easy appetizer for dipping crusty bread, and it uses simple ingredients to deliver big flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced very fine
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (for swirling)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients. You do not need to cook anything for this recipe.
  2. In a shallow serving dish or bowl, pour the extra virgin olive oil.
  3. Add the minced fresh garlic, Italian seasoning, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using) directly into the oil. Stir gently to combine the seasonings into the oil.
  4. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the surface of the oil mixture.
  5. Scatter the chopped fresh parsley over the top for color and fresh flavor.
  6. Season the dip lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  7. Just before serving, drizzle the balsamic vinegar in a decorative swirl pattern over the top of the oil mixture.
  8. Serve immediately with warm, crusty bread like a baguette or focaccia for dipping.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, let the dip sit for at least 10 minutes before serving so the garlic and herbs can infuse the oil.
  • If you want a dip similar to Carrabba’s style, increase the amount of dried herbs slightly.
  • This simple savory snack pairs wonderfully with a glass of white wine while you wait for dinner.
