You need this rich, layered Mississippi Mud Pie for your next gathering. This no-bake dessert features a crunchy Oreo crust, a creamy chocolate filling, and a light whipped topping, making it the ultimate crowd-pleaser. It is surprisingly simple to assemble.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (like Oreos)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Mix the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a bowl until fully combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom and slightly up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the crust in the freezer while you prepare the filling.
  2. Make the cream cheese layer: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in the vanilla extract. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
  3. Prepare the chocolate pudding layer: In a separate bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk together for two minutes, until the mixture thickens. Spread this chocolate pudding layer over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Make the final topping: In a clean bowl, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the remaining half of the thawed whipped topping. Spread this mixture over the chocolate pudding layer.
  5. Chill the pie: Cover the pie loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until the pie is firm.
  6. Serve: Before serving, drizzle the top with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with chocolate shavings. Slice and serve this ultimate mud pie.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy dessert, you can substitute the instant pudding layer with a layer of cooled, fudgy brownies.
  • If you do not have a food processor, place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until fine.
  • This Mississippi Mud Pie recipe is best served cold directly from the refrigerator.
