This is the rich and creamy old fashioned Million Dollar Pie you need for your next gathering. It features a simple graham cracker crust, a sweet cream cheese filling with pineapple, and crunchy pecans. You make this dessert without turning on the oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for crust)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple, well drained
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the crust in the freezer while you prepare the filling.
  2. Make the filling base: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until it is completely smooth and fluffy. Gradually beat in the sweetened condensed milk until fully combined.
  3. Add fruit and flavor: Gently fold in the well-drained crushed pineapple and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Prepare the whipped topping: In a separate, clean bowl, whip the cold heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine filling: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until no white streaks remain. This creates your rich and fluffy pie filling.
  6. Assemble the pie: Spoon the filling evenly into the chilled graham cracker crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Chill: Cover the pie loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow it to set completely. This is a key step for a firm, creamy dessert.
  8. Garnish and serve: Before serving, sprinkle the top evenly with the toasted chopped pecans. Slice and serve this easy entertaining dessert cold.

Notes

  • Make sure your crushed pineapple is very well drained. Excess liquid will prevent your pie from setting properly.
  • Toasting the pecans enhances their flavor significantly. Spread them on a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring often.
  • This recipe is excellent as a make ahead dessert; it tastes best when chilled for at least 6 hours.
