Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
In a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
Place tuna steaks in the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated.
Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes, at room temperature. Do not marinate for longer as the citrus can start to cook the fish.
Remove tuna steaks from marinade and pat dry before cooking. Discard the remaining marinade.
Notes
For grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill tuna steaks for 2-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
For pan-searing, heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear tuna steaks for 2-4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
Tuna is best served medium-rare to medium. Overcooking will make it dry.
