Learn how to make simple, glossy maple glazed carrots on the stovetop. This easy side dish is perfect for Thanksgiving, Easter, or any holiday meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced carrots in a saucepan. Cover with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the carrots are tender-crisp. Drain well.
  2. Return the carrots to the saucepan. Add the butter, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the butter is melted and the carrots are coated in a glossy glaze.
  4. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a less sweet glaze, use 3 tablespoons of maple syrup.
  • You can also roast these carrots in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, tossing with the glaze ingredients halfway through.
  • These carrots pair well with many main dishes and are a popular choice for holiday buffets.
