Ingredients
Scale
3 pounds chicken wings, flats and drumettes separated
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This is key for crispy skin.
In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
Bake for 20 minutes.
While the wings bake, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Heat the sauce over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it simmers and thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
After 20 minutes, flip the wings. Bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the wings from the oven. Transfer them to a clean large bowl.
Pour the warm honey garlic sauce over the wings and toss gently to coat them evenly.
Return the sauced wings to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispy wings, you can bake them at 425°F (220°C) for 40-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, before saucing and returning to the oven for the final 5 minutes.
