Ingredients
Scale
1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
12 ounces green candy coating or green candy melts
1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother dipping)
Small red heart sprinkles or candies (for the Grinch heart accent)
Instructions
Place the Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs form. If you do not have a food processor, place them in a sturdy zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a medium bowl. Add the softened cream cheese.
Mix the crumbs and cream cheese together using a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon until a uniform dough forms.
Roll the dough into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get about 30 to 35 balls.
Place the rolled balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Chill the Oreo balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This step helps them firm up before dipping.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy coating according to package directions. Stir in the coconut oil, if using, to thin the coating slightly.
Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted green coating, allowing excess coating to drip off. You can use a fork or a dipping tool.
Place the coated ball back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Immediately place one small red heart sprinkle or candy onto the top center of each green ball to resemble the Grinch’s heart.
Allow the candy coating to set completely at room temperature, or place the tray back in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to speed up the process.
Serve these easy Christmas treats immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
If you want a slightly different flavor, substitute regular Oreos with Red Velvet Oreos for a subtle red tint in the center.
For the best dipping consistency, ensure your melted green coating is smooth. If it thickens too much while you work, microwave it in 15-second intervals, stirring well each time.
These Grinch inspired sweets are excellent for gifting; place them in small festive tins or clear bags tied with a ribbon.
