Enjoy these simple honey garlic chicken skewers, perfect for backyard grilling and summer dinners. They are marinated for maximum flavor and grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  3. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken onto the skewers.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F or 200°C).
  6. Grill the chicken skewers for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice char marks.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite BBQ sauce or a side of peanut sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, reserve some marinade before adding the chicken and simmer it gently for a few minutes to create a glaze. Brush this glaze on the skewers during the last few minutes of grilling.
  • These skewers are a great addition to a summer board or can be a simple meal delivery option if prepared ahead.
  • Consider these for your next meal planning session as they are family friendly and a great way to use everyday ingredients.
