A simple, no-fail fudge recipe perfect for beginners. Make classic chocolate or vanilla fudge with easy-to-follow steps.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. Combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir well.
  4. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract. If using, stir in nuts or sprinkles.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  8. Lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares.

Notes

  • For vanilla fudge, use white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • You can also make this on the stovetop: combine ingredients in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
