Learn how to make tall, airy pancakes from scratch. This easy recipe uses pantry staples and simple mixing tips for a perfect stack every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until smooth. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra fluffy pancakes, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking.
  • Avoid overmixing the batter to keep your pancakes light and airy.
  • Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning.
