2 cups raw apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup fresh ginger, sliced
1/2 cup fresh horseradish root, sliced
1/2 cup garlic cloves, smashed
1/4 cup dried elderberries
1/4 cup dried echinacea root
1–2 cayenne peppers, sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
1 tablespoon dried rosemary
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Honey, to taste (optional)
Instructions
Combine all ingredients except honey in a clean glass jar.
Ensure all ingredients are submerged in the apple cider vinegar.
Seal the jar tightly and store in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks.
Shake the jar daily for the first week, then a few times a week.
After steeping, strain the liquid through cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar.
Discard the solids.
Add honey to taste, if desired, and stir until dissolved.
Store the fire cider in the refrigerator.
Notes
Adjust the amount of cayenne peppers to control the spice level.
You can customize the herbs and roots based on your preference and availability.
For a sweeter tonic, add more honey.
This tonic is best consumed in small doses, such as a tablespoon daily.
