A spicy, immune-boosting tonic made with apple cider vinegar, ginger, garlic, and peppers. This homemade fire cider is a natural remedy drink perfect for wellness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh horseradish root, sliced
  • 1/2 cup garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1/4 cup dried elderberries
  • 1/4 cup dried echinacea root
  • 12 cayenne peppers, sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Honey, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except honey in a clean glass jar.
  2. Ensure all ingredients are submerged in the apple cider vinegar.
  3. Seal the jar tightly and store in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks.
  4. Shake the jar daily for the first week, then a few times a week.
  5. After steeping, strain the liquid through cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar.
  6. Discard the solids.
  7. Add honey to taste, if desired, and stir until dissolved.
  8. Store the fire cider in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne peppers to control the spice level.
  • You can customize the herbs and roots based on your preference and availability.
  • For a sweeter tonic, add more honey.
  • This tonic is best consumed in small doses, such as a tablespoon daily.
