Ingredients
Scale
1 (24 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
If using meat, cook the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess fat. Stir in the marinara sauce and heat through. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until the ingredients are fully combined.
Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce (or plain marinara if vegetarian) on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the ravioli layer.
Sprinkle one cup of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta.
Spoon half of the remaining sauce mixture over the mozzarella.
Repeat the layers: remaining ravioli, remaining ricotta mixture, remaining sauce, and top with the remaining one cup of mozzarella cheese.
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
Let the ravioli lasagna rest for 5 to 10 minutes before you cut and serve it.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using a meat sauce made with Italian sausage instead of ground beef.
If you are planning meals for the week, this casserole is excellent for meal planning and reheats well.
You can substitute frozen meat ravioli for cheese ravioli if you prefer more protein in your dish.
