  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Pat the pork steaks dry with paper towels. This helps them brown better.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme. This is your simple seasoning blend.
  4. Rub the olive oil over both sides of each pork steak. Then, sprinkle the seasoning blend evenly over all surfaces of the meat.
  5. Place the seasoned pork steaks in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the dish around the steaks. Do not pour it over the top of the meat.
  7. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your steaks.
  8. Remove the steaks from the oven. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. You can spoon some of the pan juices over the meat for extra moisture.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sear the seasoned pork steaks in a hot, oiled skillet for 2 minutes per side before placing them in the oven.
  • If you prefer a gravy, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir this slurry into the pan juices after removing the steaks and cook on the stovetop until thickened.
  • Pork shoulder steak works well for this method, but ensure you cook it long enough to become tender.
