A simple and delicious peach cobbler recipe perfect for summer. This fool-proof dessert uses fresh or canned peaches and is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 3/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 8×8 inch baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.
  6. Pour the batter evenly over the peaches.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use fresh, ripe peaches.
  • If using canned peaches, ensure they are well-drained to avoid a watery cobbler.
  • This cobbler pairs wonderfully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • For a 3-ingredient version, you can use a cake mix as the topping.
