- 6 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 3/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the peach mixture into a greased 8×8 inch baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.
- Pour the batter evenly over the peaches.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use fresh, ripe peaches.
- If using canned peaches, ensure they are well-drained to avoid a watery cobbler.
- This cobbler pairs wonderfully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- For a 3-ingredient version, you can use a cake mix as the topping.
