Create rich, flavorful homemade garlic butter in just five minutes. This versatile compound butter is perfect for bread, steak, pasta, or vegetables, instantly upgrading any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks or 226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the softened unsalted butter into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the finely minced fresh garlic, chopped parsley, sea salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or a rubber spatula to mix all ingredients together thoroughly until the butter is uniformly colored and the garlic and herbs are evenly distributed. Mix until you achieve a smooth, rich garlic butter spread.
  4. For immediate use, you can serve the butter soft. For storage, transfer the mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Roll the butter into a log shape.
  5. Twist the ends of the wrap to seal the log tightly. Chill the garlic butter in the refrigerator for at least one hour to firm up before slicing or serving.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, substitute 2 tablespoons of the unsalted butter with high-quality olive oil.
  • If you prefer a milder garlic taste, you can roast the garlic cloves before mincing and mixing them in.
  • Store this homemade compound butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze it for up to three months.
