You can create a rich, velvety chocolate dip with just two ingredients. This simple chocolate fondue recipe is perfect for parties, romantic evenings, or when you need a quick chocolate dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces high-quality semisweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium, heat-safe bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil rapidly.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for five minutes to allow the chocolate to melt completely.
  4. After five minutes, gently whisk the mixture starting from the center and working outward until the chocolate and cream are fully combined into a smooth, glossy dip.
  5. Transfer the fondue to a small fondue pot or a small slow cooker set to the lowest setting to keep it warm for serving.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • For a stovetop method that keeps it warm, use a double boiler setup or a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan over very low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  • If using a slow cooker, stir every 10-15 minutes to prevent scorching on the bottom.
  • To make a stunning chocolate fondue board, arrange dippers attractively around the fondue pot on a large platter or cutting board.
  • For a richer flavor, use 60% cacao or higher chocolate.
