Create a shiny, smooth vanilla glaze for your homemade donuts. This easy recipe uses only a few ingredients and is perfect for dipping donuts for a bakery-style finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and lump-free.
  2. If the glaze is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. If the glaze is too thin, add powdered sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until thickened.
  4. Dip your donuts into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
  5. Place glazed donuts on a wire rack to set.

Notes

  • For a thinner glaze, add more milk. For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar.
  • Add sprinkles or other toppings immediately after dipping your donuts before the glaze sets.
  • Try adding a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
  • For a chocolate glaze, substitute 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder for 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and add 1-2 tablespoons of milk as needed.
  • For a lemon glaze, substitute lemon juice for milk and add lemon zest.
