Ingredients
Scale
1 (3 to 5 pound) bone-in or boneless turkey breast
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch (for gravy)
1 cup cold water (for gravy)
Instructions
Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick.
In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire surface of the turkey breast.
Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of your slow cooker.
Place the seasoned turkey breast skin-side up in the slow cooker.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours, or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit in the thickest part of the meat.
Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Tent it loosely with foil and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
To make the gravy, pour the cooking liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan, leaving behind any large pieces of fat or sediment. You should have about 1.5 to 2 cups of liquid.
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water until smooth to create a slurry.
Bring the cooking liquid in the saucepan to a simmer over medium heat. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry slowly until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
Slice the rested turkey breast and serve immediately with the homemade gravy.
Notes
If you are using a whole turkey breast and want crispy skin, you can transfer the cooked breast to a baking sheet and broil it for 3 to 5 minutes after resting. Watch it closely so it does not burn.
For a flavor boost, place a few slices of onion and celery under the turkey breast in the slow cooker.
This recipe works well for Butterball turkey breast products.
