Make this incredibly rich and creamy crockpot hot chocolate in your slow cooker. This recipe is simple to prepare and keeps warm for hours, making it perfect for holiday gatherings or large crowds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole milk, and heavy cream in your slow cooker. Whisk until blended.
  2. Add both types of chocolate chips to the liquid mixture in the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on LOW for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Switch the slow cooker setting to KEEP WARM. Serve the hot chocolate directly from the crock pot.
  6. Offer toppings like marshmallows, whipped cream, or peppermint sticks for guests to customize their drinks.

Notes

  • For a peppermint flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract along with the vanilla, or use crushed candy canes as a topping.
  • If you need to keep the hot chocolate warm for more than 4 hours, check the consistency; you may need to add a splash more milk to thin it slightly.
  • This recipe is easy to double for very large parties.
