Crockpot BBQ Chicken

Make tender, shreddable BBQ chicken in your slow cooker with minimal effort. This easy recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners, meal prep, or Game Day.

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until chicken is cooked through and tender.
  5. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred with two forks.
  6. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve on buns for sandwiches, over rice for bowls, or in tacos.
  • This recipe is great for meal prep. Store shredded chicken in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • For a thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
