Make this rich, comforting, and flavorful garlic parmesan pasta in a single pot. It is quick enough for a weeknight dinner and tastes like restaurant quality.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound linguine or spaghetti
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the pasta, broth, water, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into a large pot or Dutch oven.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the pasta is cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed, about 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream, butter, and grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Taste the pasta and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  6. Serve immediately in bowls, topping each serving with extra grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the broth with whole milk.
  • If you are planning your meals for the week, this recipe pairs well with simple meal planning strategies.
  • If you want to add protein, stir in 1 cup of cooked, shredded chicken during the last step.
