This recipe shows you how to make a creamy, cheesy baked garlic bread dip. It uses roasted garlic and Italian seasoning for bold flavor, making it a simple, crowd-pleasing hot appetizer perfect for sharing with crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head garlic
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Crusty bread or crackers for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a small oven-safe baking dish.
  2. Roast the garlic: Slice about 1/4 inch off the top of the head of garlic to expose the cloves. Drizzle with a little olive oil, wrap in foil, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the cloves are soft. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Squeeze the roasted garlic pulp out of the skins into a medium bowl. Mash the cloves with a fork until smooth.
  4. Add the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, pepper, and salt to the bowl with the garlic.
  5. Mix all ingredients together until they are completely combined and creamy.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese over the top.
  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dip is hot and the cheese on top is bubbly and lightly golden brown.
  9. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes before serving warm with slices of crusty bread or crackers.

Notes

  • For an extra savory flavor, you can add 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh parsley to the dip mixture.
  • If you do not have roasted garlic, substitute with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder.
  • To make this a great game day dip, serve it directly from a small bread bowl made from a round loaf.
