  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Combine the crushed Oreo cookies and melted butter in a medium bowl. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the crust in the freezer while you prepare the filling.
  2. Make the pudding base: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until slightly thickened. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Combine fillings: Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the prepared pudding until fully incorporated.
  5. Create the mousse: In a clean bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold about one-third of the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture to lighten it, then gently fold in the remaining whipped cream until just combined, creating a fluffy mousse. Do not overmix.
  6. Assemble the pie: Spoon the chocolate mousse filling evenly into the chilled Oreo crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Chill: Cover the pie loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until the mousse is firm.
  8. Serve: Before serving, top the pie with additional whipped cream (if desired) and garnish with chocolate shavings. Slice and serve cold.
