Create the ultimate party snack with these crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls. You get all the savory flavor of a classic cheeseburger, wrapped in a golden shell. This recipe includes instructions for both air frying and deep frying, plus a simple dipping sauce recipe.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely diced dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced yellow onion
  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying or cooking spray for air frying

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the cooked beef. Cook for one minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly for about 10 minutes.
  3. Once cooled, mix the cooked beef mixture with the shredded cheddar cheese, diced pickles, and diced onion in a bowl.
  4. Set up your assembly station: place one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing toward you. Brush the edges of the wrapper lightly with the beaten egg.
  5. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
  6. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling. Fold in the left and right corners toward the center. Roll the wrapper tightly away from you until sealed. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  7. To deep fry: Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place 3-4 egg rolls into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. To air fry: Lightly spray the assembled egg rolls with cooking spray. Place them in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Cook at 380°F (195°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, like a Big Mac style sauce or simple ketchup and mustard mix.

Notes

  • For an extra crispy texture when air frying, you can lightly brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before cooking.
  • If you are making these for a party, you can assemble the egg rolls up to 24 hours ahead of time. Store them covered in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • To make a quick ‘Burger Dipping Sauce,’ mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, and 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish.
