Ingredients
Scale
6 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
Let the crumble cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a mix of apple varieties.
If you prefer a crispier topping, add an extra tablespoon of butter.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
