Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and apple butter until well combined.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the cookies cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired drizzling consistency.
  10. Once the cookies are completely cool, drizzle the glaze over them. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them.
  • You can add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the dough for extra texture.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These cookies are great for meal planning and can be a simple dessert option.
