Stop thawing! Cook frozen shrimp directly in your air fryer for perfectly juicy, tender results with crispy edges in under 15 minutes. This is your new secret weapon for quick weeknight dinners or easy appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large frozen shrimp, raw, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for tossing after cooking)

Instructions

  1. Take the frozen shrimp directly from the freezer. Do not thaw them first. Place the frozen shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Drizzle the seasoning mixture over the frozen shrimp in the air fryer basket. Toss gently with tongs to coat the shrimp evenly.
  4. Set your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  5. Air fry for 6 minutes.
  6. Open the basket and shake the shrimp well to ensure even cooking.
  7. Continue to air fry for another 4 to 6 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and cooked through. Total cook time is usually 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. If desired, immediately transfer the cooked shrimp to a bowl and toss with the melted butter for extra flavor. Serve right away.

Notes

  • For best results and crispiness, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • If your shrimp are very large, you may need to add 1 to 2 minutes to the total cooking time.
  • This method works well for both raw and pre-cooked frozen shrimp, though cooking time will be shorter for pre-cooked varieties.
